Ytre Arna Sauna is the Vestfjord Sauna network’s Bergen city outpost, located in the Ytre Arna neighbourhood on the eastern edge of Bergen municipality, where the long arm of Sørfjorden meets the foot of steep, forested hillsides. It is one of the network’s newest additions, bringing authentic Nordic sauna culture directly into a Bergen suburb and making high-quality outdoor sauna access available to residents and visitors without the need to travel to the city’s outer islands.
The Experience
The sauna reaches temperatures of 80 °C or above and is electric — always pre-heated and ready on arrival. Fjord views and direct outdoor swimming access allow guests to alternate between the heat of the sauna and a refreshing plunge in the fjord water below. The combination of intense heat and cold fjord water delivers the classic Norwegian hot-cold cycle that is as restorative for the mind as it is for the body.
Access
Ytre Arna has excellent transport links to central Bergen, with a train station served by Bergen’s local rail network making this one of the most accessible coastal sauna locations in the city. This makes it an especially good option for visitors staying in central Bergen who want to experience a real outdoor fjord sauna without renting a car.
Booking
The sauna can be booked as a shared session (up to 6 guests, NOK 199/hour per person) or as a completely private booking (NOK 999/hour). Monthly membership passes are available via the Vestfjord Sauna platform for frequent users. All booking is done online, with access granted via an SMS code.
