Nestled in the forested hills of Mjøsli overlooking Norway’s largest lake, Mjøsa, Konglehytta is one of Norway’s most distinctive cabin-and-sauna experiences. Located just 30 minutes from Oslo Airport Gardermoen and about one hour from central Oslo, the property features five iconic iglu-shaped cabins and three dedicated Iglusaunas, all handcrafted by the Estonian workshop Iglucraft. The oval, dome-like saunas are constructed from high-quality natural materials and designed to blend into the surrounding birch and pine forest, making them as visually striking from the outside as they are atmospheric inside.
The Iglusauna
Each Iglusauna accommodates up to four guests and features a dramatic panoramic window framing direct views of Lake Mjøsa. The wood-fired experience is deeply traditional: guests tend the fire themselves, build up a proper head of steam, and cool off with a dip in the lake or a brisk outdoor shower before retreating to the sauna’s warmth. The combination of crackling fire, steaming birch scent, and a view stretching across Norway’s largest inland lake creates a genuinely unforgettable sensory experience.
The Cabins
Sauna access is exclusive to cabin guests — Konglehytta does not offer standalone sauna bookings, ensuring every experience remains private and intimate. The compact iglu cabins are outfitted with pre-made beds, kitchenettes, showers, WiFi, and large terraces with fire pits. Guests often combine the sauna with lakeside walks, mountain biking, fishing, and stargazing.
