Sauna research association registered in Kristiansand

Sauna Bathing Research Collective Norway has been registered in the Norwegian Register of Business Enterprises with organisation number 937127642 and an address at Dvergsneskollen 25 in Kristiansand. According to the register, the entity is an association or society, and its purpose is described as “interdisciplinary and inclusive research and knowledge development related to sauna”. The association was founded on 16 January 2026 and registered on 10 February of the same year.

What the register says

The organisational form association or society means that the entity is organised with members and is typically run on a voluntary or non-profit basis. It is not registered in the Register of Voluntary Organisations, nor is it registered in the VAT register. Its industry code is “activities of other membership organisations”. The register lists no website, no employees and no information about bankruptcy or winding-up.

Being registered means that the enterprise has been entered into the register. It does not mean that a sauna has been built, opened or has an opening date.

The sauna offering in the area

In our own directory of saunas, there are currently no registered saunas in Kristiansand city. In Kristiansand municipality, however, 10 saunas are registered, and in the Sørlandet region there are 48 in total. The most common types in the area are outdoor saunas, indoor saunas and spa. Among those registered in the municipality are Aquarama Spa, Blaud Sauna, Blaudkokt Gjestehavn and Booksauna Høllen. The fact that the city itself has no registered sauna in our directory stands out.

What we do not know yet

The register contains no information about when a potential sauna might open, where it would be located, what it would cost or what kind of offering it would have. The association’s purpose is research and knowledge development, but it is not clear how this would be organised in practice, or whether it would involve a physical sauna offering.
