New sauna business in Bergen: Marineholmen Badstudrift AS

Newly registered company in Bergen

Marineholmen Badstudrift AS was registered in the Norwegian Register of Business Enterprises on 28 September 2026. The company is based at Georgernes verft 10 in Bergen, and according to its own stated purpose, it will “create offerings for year-round swimming and sauna in ways that ensure the public the best possible access to bathing”. The company was founded on 9 September 2026, a few weeks before registration.

What the register says

Marineholmen Badstudrift AS is organised as a limited liability company (aksjeselskap). This means the business is run commercially, with shareholders having limited liability for the company’s obligations. The company is not registered in the Volunteer Register, which distinguishes it from associations that often run saunas on a volunteer basis. It is also not registered for VAT, and no industry code or number of employees is provided. The company is not in liquidation or bankruptcy.

The sauna offering in the area

According to our own overview, there are 21 saunas in Bergen municipality from before. The most common types in the area are outdoor (9), indoor (7) and wood-fired (6). Among the registered operators in the city are AdO arena, Arna Sauna, Artesia Spa Hotel Norge and Bergen Flyt. In Western Norway, there are a total of 225 saunas in our catalogue, while nationally there are 603. The new company will thus enter a market where an established offering already exists.

What we do not know yet

The register says nothing about when a possible sauna will open, where it will be located, what prices will apply or what the offering will otherwise consist of. It is also not known whether the company has entered into agreements for premises or operations. In other words, we know that a business has been established, but not whether or when it will operate a sauna.
