Skaarungen Sauna is a wood-fired sauna in Kabelvag, one of the oldest and most charming fishing villages in the Lofoten Islands. The sauna draws on the area’s long maritime heritage, offering an authentic bathing experience that connects to the traditions of the hardy fishing communities that have called these islands home for centuries.
The wood-fired stove fills the sauna with deep, aromatic warmth. Between rounds, the Arctic waters of the harbor await for a bracing cold dip. The views from the sauna take in Kabelvag’s colorful wooden buildings, fishing boats, and the dramatic mountains that form the backbone of Lofoten.
Kabelvag is a short drive from Svolvaer and is home to the Lofoten Museum and the Lofoten Aquarium, making it a natural base for exploring the islands. The sauna is centrally located and offers both individual and group sessions. Swimwear is required and booking ahead is advisable.
